Soarers at Oran Park at an Unique Autosport TrackdayFirst time there for all of the Soarer owners, I drove the car 360km to the track with the track wheels in the back seat in the morning, arrived and changed the wheels, did the day, changed the wheels back and drove home again.  If that's not a true trackday car, then I don't know what is !
A very memorable day.The guys from the Soarer club are a really nice bunch of guys. I'm glad I got to drive at Oran Park before it closed down and thanks to Unique Auto Sport for putting the event on and allowing mortals like us to use it and our cars as was intended !

I was very surprised to find that the two turbo Soarer beat all of the other cars in the Turbo 6 class,
my Soarer being 2nd in the class and in road trim with just mild boost increase, and Emanuel Spinola in his
modified Soarer getting the best time. I think the Skyline guys where as surprised as us that the Soarers beat them.

Some of the GTR's and John Penlington's very quick 300Z

It didn't take long for this old second hand set of slicks to let go, not much use going around Oran Park with a right front like that.

Suspension out at Sam Markov's place. Sam got my car from 141's to 136's simply by setup. I'm sure there is more in it,
even on stock Turbo's.
I have a big single turbo, but really debating at this point if it's worth putting it on. The little stock
singles are amazing. I've run them for hundreds of race laps at 17PSI and they just do not break ! I've got a spare set
but not sure how good they are and I must admit the turbo's on the car are getting a little smoky after they have been
sitting for a while. I also wonder how much quicker the bigger single turbo will be, it will be good for another 120KW but
there may be power delivery issues due to the boost curve and the more slingshotiness of the delivery. Perhaps with
the right sized exhaust housing it will be ok, its a Garrett GT35 with the 1.06 housing, so the housing needs changing.

Winton 2004

This was my first trackday in the car at Wakefield. I had allot of fun learning the limits of the car for the first time.

And this is how it looks today. Alas racing costs money and I don't have alot spare, so everything is done
on a shoe string budget. Touch wood, it all continues to hold together, after hundreds of laps, all I have had is a broken shifter, and that was an after market short shifter anyway. Although it hasn't seen the track for several years
at least it has that much less wear.

Me feeling happy after a day at Winton and showing off my success there at a club level. When I first took the car to Winton I really did not expect it to be as quick as it was. On the first meeting I went to I was packing up at the end of the day and someone came and said I had a third place trophy with a 141 laptop ! The Soarer is relatively quick car, I'm still not sure why, lots of torque, good chassis, dimensions. probably a combination and its very fun to drive !

Here is the Soarer in a more graceful outfit, after I first got it from the importer. The Turbo 6 era of the 90s produced some fantastic cars and also engines. I'm not sure if they are matched by today's standards, atleast in terms of performance.

Thanks to Sam Markov for his help and work on the car.
Just incase you don't know, Sam and his R32 GTR is a combination that is breath taking to watch, with breath taking laptimes !

In car from Winton Sprint Round 5

This was basically a test run after some work on the suspension. I wasn't sure how it would feel and it turned out to be over steering. I had a class win and managed second fastest Tintop outright (fastest was Sam Markov's Nissan GTR AWD) who's times are a world away..

In Car Footage From Oran Park Raceway NSW
This was the UAS (Unique Auto Sports) trackday 2004 at Oran Park. I had a set of old second hand $50 slicks and pretty much a street setup on the car still. It was my first time at Oran park and my second time racing the car. The slicks where slowly falling apart from Lap 1 and the front right ended up completely delaminated.

Wakefield Trackday Video
My first Trackday ever ! I was so nervous in the lead up to this day, I didn't sleep the night before, but once I was on the track, I found out there is no time for nerves

This is one of my favourite videos I found on the net. The car control is great to watch. New AWD rally cars may be quick, but they don't dance like the old 2WD cars did and still do of course.
